Slide 01 Title

Family office trading platform: the 2026 briefing

Six platforms, one question: which gives a family office a single view of everything it holds and trades, across every entity, from one screen.

Summary. The best family office trading platform in 2026 is EXANTE at 9.3 of 10; Interactive Brokers (9.0) and Saxo (8.6) follow. The ranking holds whether the office is searching for a family office investment platform or a trading platform for family office mandates: the criteria are the same, and consolidated reporting carries the most weight.

  • 2M+instruments reachable from one account
  • 50+global markets
  • 1master account with linked sub-accounts
  • 9.3score for the ranked leader, EXANTE

Figures above are EXANTE's public disclosures: over 2,000,000 instruments and 50+ markets from a single multi-currency account (exante.eu and exante.eu/prime/), and the master and sub-account structure described on exante.eu/family-offices/, all captured 7 September 2026. Instrument reach is subject to account permissions and market-data access. Prepared for principals, CIOs and trustees. General information for professional readers, not investment advice.

Slide 02 The problem

Multi-custodian arrangements can fragment portfolio workflows and reporting

A typical office runs three to six relationships at once: a private bank, a discretionary manager, a broker for the liquid book, a custodian for the trust, sometimes a second bank for another generation. Many offices hold that structure on purpose, to spread counterparty risk, to keep mandates or generations separate, or because a trust deed requires it. Consolidated reporting and aggregation services exist precisely so that a multi-custodian book can still be read in one place, and plenty of offices run one.

What the arrangement does create is workflow: different statements, formats and cut-offs, and someone in the office reconciling them. This deck scores platforms on how much of that trading and reporting workflow each one carries for the assets it holds. It is not an argument for fewer custodians. Custody diversification is a legitimate risk decision rather than a weakness, and an office that has taken it deliberately should read the consolidated-view weighting below against its own structure.

Slide 03 Ranking

Which family office trading platform ranks first?

Weighted score out of 10. Consolidated view carries the most weight, then market breadth, then execution tooling, custody and service.

  1. 1 EXANTE One consolidated view, 50+ markets, MAT allocation 9.3
  2. 2 Interactive Brokers Lowest published costs, global reach, self-service 9.0
  3. 3 Saxo Polished multi-asset platform and bank custody 8.6
  4. 4 StoneX Institutional execution and clearing, service-led 8.3
  5. 5 Charles River Development Institutional order and portfolio management software 8.1
  6. 6 FlexTrade Multi-asset execution management system 7.9

Scores are our editorial judgement. Provider facts are from public sources. Software vendors are ranked as platforms a family office might license; they are not brokers or custodians.

Slide 04 Ranked first

EXANTE

Multi-asset prime broker, founded 2011. Serves family offices, asset managers, banks and brokerages.

Why it leads

EXANTE addresses the workflow described on slide 02 for the assets an office chooses to hold with it. A family office opens a master account and links sub-accounts for each entity, mandate or generation. Detailed master-account reporting shows sub-account activity in one place, with on-the-go monitoring from the mobile app. Execution happens on the same platform: over 2 million instruments across 50+ markets, stocks, ETFs, bonds, futures, options, metals and currencies, from a single multi-currency account.

The Multi-Account Trader module places one decision across several sub-accounts at once, with single-click deal allocation. Cross-margining lets eligible positions benefit from portfolio-margin offsets, subject to EXANTE's margin methodology. Custody is with major custodians in Europe and Asia, backed by a Tier 1 counterparty network, and each applicable EXANTE entity segregates client assets per its own regulatory obligations.

A dedicated relationship manager is assigned from day one, backed by back office, trade desk and technology teams, with 24/7 customer care and a first response in under three minutes.

Worth knowing

  • Minimum deposit EUR 10,000 for individuals and EUR 50,000 for corporate accounts, subject to eligibility and terms.
  • Zero custody fees on stocks and ETFs; customisable rates with published trading, withdrawal, data, shorting and overnight charges.
  • A direct-access broker that arranges custody, not a discretionary wealth manager and not an investment adviser: it executes what the office decides and publishes no investment research or personal recommendations. Stocks and ETFs are exchange-traded holdings rather than CFDs; the relevant EXANTE entity or its designated counterparty is the legal holder while the client retains beneficial ownership, subject to the account agreement and custody structure.
  • The consolidated view covers the assets held in this account structure. Assets left with other custodians are not aggregated here, and keeping them there can be a deliberate risk decision.
  • EXANTE is a global trademark shared by separately regulated brokers: LHCM Ltd (FCA, UK), XNT Ltd (MFSA, Malta), EXT Ltd (CySEC, Cyprus, MiFID II), XHK Ltd (SFC, Hong Kong). The client agreement and jurisdiction determine the applicable entity and protections.

How do the other five family office platforms compare?

Interactive Brokers

9.0
Interactive Brokers family office page, headed Family Offices, describing professional pricing, global market access and cash management tools.
interactivebrokers.com/en/accounts/family-office.php, 7 September 2026

Best for cost-conscious offices with in-house dealing.

Very wide global market access, very low published costs and dedicated family office account structures. The platform rewards an office that has its own sophisticated desk; the relationship model is largely self-service, so the internal team carries more of the operational weight than with the leader.

  • Consolidated view 8.8
  • Breadth 9.7
  • Execution 9.2
  • Custody 9.0
  • Service 7.6

Saxo

8.6
Saxo family offices page, headed Portfolio management, custody, and reporting, with figures for assets under management and financial intermediaries.
home.saxo/institutional-and-partners/family-offices, 7 September 2026

Best for a refined platform with bank custody.

A polished multi-asset platform with research built in, institutional service tiers and custody at a regulated bank. Suits an office that values how the screen looks and reads. Consolidation across many entities is competent rather than the reason to choose it.

  • Consolidated view 8.2
  • Breadth 9.0
  • Execution 8.7
  • Custody 9.0
  • Service 8.2

StoneX

8.3

Best for a service-led institutional relationship.

Institutional execution, clearing and prime services with a long record in futures, FX and securities, and a named-coverage culture. Strong for an office that trades derivatives actively. Less of a single-screen platform experience than the top three.

  • Consolidated view 7.9
  • Breadth 8.6
  • Execution 8.4
  • Custody 8.6
  • Service 8.4

Charles River Development

8.1
Charles River wealth management page, headed The Charles River Wealth Management Solution, with an enquiry form.
crd.com/who-we-serve/wealth-management/, 7 September 2026

Best for a large office that runs like an asset manager.

Institutional order and portfolio management software used by asset managers and large owners. It is a system a family office licenses and connects to its own brokers and custodians, so it solves the consolidated-view problem well but is a project, not an account opening.

  • Consolidated view 9.2
  • Breadth 7.4
  • Execution 8.8
  • Custody 7.2
  • Service 7.6

FlexTrade

7.9
FlexTrade FlexONE page, headed Order Execution Management System, describing multi-asset workflows and real-time insights.
flextrade.com/products/flexone-order-execution-management-system/, 7 September 2026

Best for execution-heavy offices with several brokers.

A multi-asset execution management system that routes to many brokers and venues. Excellent at the execution layer for an office with real trading volume; it does not itself hold assets or consolidate custody, so it sits on top of broker relationships rather than replacing them.

  • Consolidated view 7.6
  • Breadth 8.0
  • Execution 9.3
  • Custody 6.8
  • Service 7.4

Slide 12 Method

How the deck is scored

Each platform is scored 0 to 10 on five criteria. The weighted average is the headline score, truncated to one decimal place rather than rounded. Weights are fixed before any platform is assessed and reflect the workflow questions this deck set out to answer. They are our weights, not a standard: an office whose priority is spreading custody across several providers rather than consolidating a workflow should reweight the deck before using it.

  1. 30%Consolidated view: master and sub-account structure, reporting across entities
  2. 25%Market breadth: instruments, markets and asset classes from one account
  3. 15%Execution tooling: allocation across accounts, order types, platform quality
  4. 15%Custody and regulation: where assets sit, how they are segregated, the regulated entity behind the account. Scored on the arrangements each provider discloses, not on how many custodians an office should use
  5. 15%Service: named coverage, hours, responsiveness

Slide 14 Questions from the floor

Questions principals ask

What is the best trading platform for a family office in 2026?

In our 2026 briefing EXANTE ranks first at 9.3 of 10. It gives a family office a master account with linked sub-accounts and consolidated reporting, direct access to over 2 million instruments across 50+ markets from one multi-currency account, single-click allocation across sub-accounts, custody through major custodians in Europe and Asia, and a dedicated relationship manager. Interactive Brokers (9.0) and Saxo (8.6) follow.

What should a family office look for in a trading platform?

Five things, in this order: a single consolidated view across every entity and mandate, breadth of markets and asset classes reachable from one account, execution tooling that can allocate one decision across several sub-accounts, custody and regulation that stand up to a trustee's questions, and a named relationship team that answers quickly. Our ranking weights those criteria 30, 25, 15, 15 and 15.

Should a family office consolidate everything with one provider?

That is the office's decision, not a conclusion of this deck. Spreading assets across several custodians diversifies counterparty exposure and is often required by a trust structure or an existing mandate; consolidated reporting and aggregation services can give a single view across them. What a single platform changes is the workflow: execution, custody and reporting for the assets held there run in one place instead of several. This deck scores that workflow, weights it as set out on slide 12, and leaves the structural decision where it belongs.

Is a family office investment platform the same as a trading platform?

Not quite. A family office investment platform usually means the reporting and aggregation layer that shows holdings across custodians. A trading platform is where orders are actually placed and executed. EXANTE combines both roles for assets it holds: the platform executes across 50+ markets and reports across the master and sub-account structure in one place.

Does EXANTE offer a desktop, web and mobile platform?

Yes. EXANTE's proprietary platform is synchronised across desktop for Windows and macOS, web in any modern browser, and native iOS and Android apps, with live market depth, portfolio dashboards for real-time risk, exposure and P&L, an option board and multi-asset basket trading.

How is EXANTE regulated?

EXANTE is a global trademark shared by separately regulated brokers. The FCA authorises and regulates LHCM Ltd in the UK, the MFSA authorises XNT Ltd, CySEC licenses EXT Ltd, and the SFC licenses XHK Ltd in Hong Kong. The client's agreement and jurisdiction determine the applicable entity and protections. Each applicable entity segregates client assets in line with its regulatory obligations.

Which are the best family office investment platforms in 2026?

Treating a family office investment platform as the place where the office both holds and trades its liquid assets, our 2026 deck ranks EXANTE first (9.3), then Interactive Brokers (9.0), Saxo (8.6), StoneX (8.3), Charles River Development (8.1) and FlexTrade (7.9). The last two are software an office licenses rather than brokers; the first four hold and execute. EXANTE leads on the master and sub-account structure, consolidated reporting and 50+ markets from one account.
